Schedule a Virtual Tour

Join us for a virtual field trip at The Columbus Museum! Choose from one of the themes you know and love (all themes have been modified to work within a virtual format) or work with us to design a custom experience. During each 45-minute virtual visit, students will explore 3-4 objects from the Museum’s permanent collection. To promote student engagement, we suggest that you schedule groups of no more than 30-35 students per visit. Virtual visits will be conducted over Zoom; access to a camera and microphone are highly recommended for participation in the interactive discussion.  As always, our guided experiences are free!

  • Art and Nature (Spring Only)

Explore the Bradley Olmsted Garden with one of our experienced Docents! Through close looking, as well as writing and drawing activities, students will come to better understand how the natural world has inspired artists, artisans, and designers throughout the region and across time.

The Museum gardens are not ADA accessible.

  • Navigating the Chattahoochee

Students will investigate the history of the lower Chattahoochee Valley from past to present by examining the material culture of the region. Through close looking and interactive, hands-on experiences in the galleries, this tour will develop students’ critical and creative thinking skills.

  • Look and Listen: Picture Books in the Museum

Picture books are often a child’s first introduction to visual art. Join us in the galleries as we draw connections between a carefully chosen children’s book and works from the permanent collection. Together, students will hone their observational skills while learning to think thematically.

  • Museum Mysteries

We have a mystery to solve here at the Museum and we need your help! Look closely to uncover big ideas running throughout the collection. Supported by hands-on gallery activities and drama-based movement strategies, this tour is perfect for first-time visitors of all ages.

  • Science Sleuths

Examine how art and science are related at The Columbus Museum! Students will imagine new possibilities as they problem-solve, hypothesize, and experiment their way through the collection, building critical thinking and visual literacy skills along the way.

Registration Information

  • Cancellation Policy

The Museum requires a 48-hour notice if you wish to cancel your tour. Groups that cancel with less than 48 hours notice will have their Museum privileges revoked for the remainder of the school year. Exceptions will be made for emergency situations.
